What to Look For:

A - Asymmetry

If you draw a line through the middle of the mole, the two halves don’t match. One side might look totally different from the other. Healthy moles are usually symmetrical — so if yours is lopsided, it’s time to pay attention.

B - Border

The edges of the spot may be uneven, blurry, or jagged. Normal moles tend to have smooth, clear borders. If the border looks irregular, it could be a warning sign.

C - Color

Instead of being just one color, the spot has a mix — like different shades of brown, black, tan, red, white, or even blue. Multiple colors or a color that changes over time is a reason to get it checked.

D - Diameter

If the mole or spot is larger than 6mm (about the size of a pencil eraser), it’s something to watch. Even smaller spots can be dangerous, but bigger ones definitely deserve attention.

E - Evolving

The spot is changing — getting bigger, changing color, becoming raised, starting to itch or bleed. Even a small change over weeks or months is important. When in doubt, check it out!
